Egyptian war animals? Uh oh...

The Egyptians used animals in war because it helped them a lot. That makes you wonder if the modern military uses like, lizards as spy's in war. The Egyptians didn't use lizards, they used lions and elephants! The lions would tear the enemy limb from limb and eat them, while the elephants odor would drive away horses. Ugh, stinky! The elephants weren't the best chose though. If they were hit with a weapon, they would go on a rampage and sometimes kill their own troops. Ouch, get out of the way!!

Egyptian marching

The Egyptian army wasn't half bad at winning battles, but they would be totally unorganized if they didn't march. The way the Egyptians army marched was in straight rows and in what looked like a big square. They carried spears, sickle swords, carried shields and wore no other armor. That's probably a good idea since its so hot! The troops would over heat and get slaughtered if they were to hot. That would not be good, not at all.

Who were the leaders of the egyptian army? Was it King Tut? Cleopatra? Djoser?

As it turns out one of the leaders of the Egyptian army was Ramses the second. He was so clever that he had four different divisions of his army! There was the Amurru, Amun, Re, and the Ptah. Those four divisions were used to invade the Hittite city of Kaddish. The Hittite spy's lied to Ramses the second and told him that the Hittite army was in Aleppo, but they were actually in Kaddish! How would you feel if you went all the way to Aleppo just to find that they aren't there? Man that would make me mad! So the Amun division went to Aleppo, and the Amurru division guarded the river for Re and Ptah divisions. Got to have you a division of protection! That would make me feel safe! Re was attacked first with 2,500 Hittite chariots while crossing the river. Ouch!

Ambush? Rush the enemys lines? What are the Egyptian armys tactics?

The Egyptian army was crafty, good, and they stole captured commanders to use in battle! Nope, I'm not kidding. Even if you didn't want to, you had to if you were captured. Sounds bad doesn't it? That doesn't even include the 10 questions they had to ask themselves before every battle. The first was where shall I gather my army? In the hills? Or on the plain? The second one was in what direction shall we march? North, East, South, West? The third question was should my soldiers be together or in bands(small groups, duh)? The fourth was where is the enemy? In the hills or on the plain? The fifth question was how many scouts should I send? 1 or 1,000,000? The sixth question the commanders had to ask themselves was how shall I deploy? Archers in the back and spear man in the front with cavalry in between? That sounds like it would kick butt. The seventh question was should I ambush them from the hills if they are on the plain? The eighth question was should this be a day or night attack? The day would give me a clear view of where the enemy is, but night would give me the chance to ambush the enemy without being detected. The final question was should we attack their flank our go straight for the front lines? They had to do that before every battle!

What did the egyptians fight with? Bows and arrows? Spears? Clothes? Maybe....

War is an ancient art performed by most all countries. The Egyptians weren't an exception, and the weapons they fought with were vicious! The mace is a club they used to bash their enemies heads in with. Try facing that in battle bub! Just don't wet yourself. The sickle sword has a short, curved blade made for slicing through your opponent. Swords at the time had to be small because the metal they were made out of was very brittle. That is why the sword was a secondary weapon! A battle ax was also used in combat, ether thrown or used to slash. Don't worry, they weren't without protection though. Egyptian spear man carried large wooden shields to protect themselves, weird enough they had no armor other than that. All they wore was a lion cloth. Imagine going into battle like that! It would scare me to death, literally. You might just make your enemy laugh to death. Makes you wonder if that's what they did.
